Job summary

Premier Foods is seeking a motivated Technical Operator in Worksop to join the manufacturing team. The role involves operating and monitoring production lines, carrying out line checks, and maintaining GMP standards to deliver high quality products safely.

You'll work across rotating shift patterns and contribute to continuous improvement, with training on forklift operation where applicable. The position is temporary with a view to permanent, offering competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a commercial food production or catering environment.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Catering.
  • Food Safety Level 2 qualification.
  • Methodical and detail-oriented approach.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to rotate shifts and learn.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor production equipment and machinery.
  • Carry out routine line checks and basic fault finding.
  • Support daily production targets.
  • Maintain hygiene and GMP standards.
  • Complete production records and quality documentation.
  • Identify and report safety or quality concerns.
  • Collaborate with colleagues for smooth shift handovers.
  • Contribute ideas for continuous improvement and process optimisation.
  • Operate forklift trucks safely where required (training/authorisation provided).

Location: Worksop

Company: Premier Foods

Salary: £30,205,Plus Shift Pay (up to £7,741pa)

Contract: Temporary, with the opportunity to become permanent

Shift Pattern: The successful candidate must be fully flexible and able to work and rotate between both a 3-shift pattern (Monday to Friday: Days, Afternoons and Nights) and a 4-day, 10-hour rotating shift pattern (Monday to Thursday), as required to meet business and operational needs.

  • A 3-shift rotation Monday - Friday:
    • Days: 6:00 am – 2:00 pm
    • Afternoons: 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm
    • Nights: 10:00 pm – 6:00 am

and

  • A 4-day, 10-hour rotating shift pattern (Monday to Thursday):
    • 6:00 am – 4:00 pm
    • 4:00 pm – 2:00 am


We are looking for a motivated and safety-conscious Technical Operator to join our manufacturing team. As a Technical Operator, you will play a key role in the efficient running of the production line, operating equipment and machinery, supporting continuous improvement activities, and helping the team achieve production targets.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Technical Operator, you will play a key role in ensuring our production lines run safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating and monitoring production equipment and machinery.
  • Carrying out routine line checks and basic fault finding.
  • Supporting the achievement of daily production targets.
  • Maintaining excellent hygiene and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
  • Completing production records and quality documentation accurately.
  • Identifying and reporting safety or quality concerns.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth shift handovers and efficient operations.
  • Contributing ideas for continuous improvement and process optimisation.
  • Operating forklift trucks safely where required (training/authorisation provided where applicable).
What We're Looking For
Essential:
  • Experience working in a commercial food production or catering environment.
  • NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Catering.
  • Food Safety Level 2 qualification (or equivalent).
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • A positive, energetic, and self-motivated attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Desirable:
  • Food Safety Level 3 qualification.
  • HACCP Level 2 qualification.
  • Previous experience operating manufacturing or production machinery.
