Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Review work orders before allocating to engineers.
• Check scope of work, site information and customer requirements.
• Review job history and system information.
• Identify materials, equipment and technical information required.
• Ensure engineers have clear instructions before attendance.
• Liaise with engineers during planned, reactive and remedial works.
• Provide remote technical support to engineers and customers.
• Carry out remote system programming and diagnostics.
• Review system logs, alerts, network status and device communications.
• Determine whether faults can be resolved remotely or require site attendance.
• Record remote access, technical support and programming changes.
• Order materials from approved suppliers and raise purchase orders.
• Monitor outstanding orders and coordinate deliveries.
• Review completed job sheets for accuracy and completeness.
• Check labour hours, materials, certificates and customer sign-off.
• Identify additional works and variations; capture all costs.
• Close completed jobs and release for invoicing.
• Help reduce delays between completion and invoicing.

UK Red Security & Fire Systems Ltd is looking for an experienced and organised Technical Operations Coordinator to support our engineering and office teams.

This is a varied office-based technical role suited to someone with experience in the fire and security industry. You will review work before engineer attendance, liaise with engineers, provide remote technical support, order materials, assess completed job sheets and prepare completed works for invoicing.

Key responsibilities

• Review work orders before allocating them to engineers.
• Check the scope of work, site information and customer requirements.
• Review previous job history and relevant system information.
• Identify the materials, equipment and technical information required.
• Ensure engineers have clear and complete instructions before attendance.
• Liaise with engineers throughout planned, reactive and remedial works.
• Provide remote technical support to engineers and customers.
• Carry out authorised remote system programming and diagnostics.
• Review system logs, alerts, network status and device communications.
• Determine whether faults can be resolved remotely or require site attendance.
• Record all remote access, technical support and programming changes.
• Order materials and equipment from approved suppliers.
• Raise purchase orders and allocate costs to the correct jobs.
• Monitor outstanding orders and coordinate deliveries.
• Review engineers' completed job sheets for accuracy and completeness.
• Check labour hours, materials used, photographs, certificates and customer sign-off.
• Follow up missing information and outstanding actions with engineers.
• Identify additional works, variations, remedial work and return visits.
• Add labour, material, equipment and other costs to completed jobs.
• Compare actual costs against quotations and budgets.
• Confirm all additional chargeable works have been captured.
• Calculate selling values and review estimated job margins.
• Close completed jobs and release them for invoicing.
• Monitor open jobs and help reduce delays between completion and invoicing.

The successful candidate

You should have:

• Previous experience within the fire and security industry.
• Technical knowledge of systems such as CCTV, intruder alarms, access control and fire alarms.
• Experience with remote system programming, diagnostics and technical support.
• The ability to understand work orders, job sheets and technical documentation.
• Good commercial awareness and an understanding of job costing.
• Experience ordering materials and dealing with suppliers.
• Strong communication skills and confidence liaising with engineers and customers.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
• Confidence using job-management, purchasing and accounting systems.
• The ability to manage several jobs and priorities at the same time.
