Job summary

East Herts District Council in Hertford is seeking a Housing Standards role focused on inspecting properties, advising landlords, and enforcing housing standards. You will carry out investigations, support improvements, and promote proactive compliance across the district.

The ideal candidate has relevant property experience and strong written communication skills, with a focus on meeting deadlines and working with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to handle challenging situations with tact and discretion.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work without supervision and prioritise deadlines.
  • Excellent written skills to write schedules of work, summarise accurately and convey complex information.

Salary: £38,009 - £41,506 (Inclusive of Local Weighting) Pro Rata

What will you be doing?
  • Responding to service requests and giving appropriate advice.
  • Carrying out a range of inspections and investigationsand encouraging landlords to remedy defects.
  • Taking appropriate enforcement action where necessary.
  • Bringing HMO’s up to standard and actively seeking out unlicensed HMOs.
About you
