Job summary

Specialist Risk Group in the United Kingdom is seeking a Technical Motor Claims Handler to own complex motor claims, ensuring fair and timely resolutions while maintaining exceptional customer service throughout the claims journey.

You will manage claims from notification to settlement, assess indemnity and policy coverage, and collaborate with repairers, engineers, and solicitors to progress settlements. Experience coaching others is valued.

Qualifications

• At least five years' experience handling motor insurance claims.
• Experience coaching, mentoring or providing technical guidance to less experienced claims professionals.
• Experience across vehicle repairs, total loss, personal injury and credit hire claims.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
• Experience using claims management systems and digital documentation tools.
• Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively under pressure.
• Sound judgement and strong technical decision-making skills.
• Cert CII qualification, or currently working towards achieving it.

Responsibilities

• Supporting and mentoring less experienced claims handlers, sharing technical knowledge and contributing to the development of the wider team.

• Reviewing evidence including statements, photographs, dashcam footage and reports to determine liability.
• Working closely with repairers, engineers, solicitors and other specialist suppliers to progress claims.
• Negotiating settlements with insurers, third parties and credit hire organisations while controlling costs.
• Maintaining accurate reserves and providing technical support and guidance where required.

About the role

As a Technical Motor Claims Handler, you'll take ownership of complex motor claims, ensuring fair, compliant and timely resolutions while delivering a high standard of customer service throughout the claims journey.
