Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a Biomedical Scientist lead for TB/Bacteriology/Mycology services spanning three acute hospitals. You will oversee staff development and service delivery, ensuring high-quality patient care in line with NHS policies.

Key responsibilities include budget management for reagents, equipment, and supplies, and representing the service at regional and national forums. A strong CPD record and MSc in Biomedical Science are essential.

Qualifications

• Registration with the Health Professions Council is mandatory.
• MSc in Biomedical Science or Higher Specialist in TB/Bacteriology/Mycology.
• Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Science.
• Management experience and knowledge appropriate to the post is required.
• Evidence of continuing professional development to a highly developed, specialist level including clinical & scientific skills and service development.

Responsibilities

• Delivery of TB/Bacteriology/Mycology services across NHS Lanarkshire's three acute hospitals.
• Line management responsibility for 20 to 40 staff.
• Oversee service maintenance of all automated analysers in TB/Bacteriology/Mycology.
• Budget responsibility for reagents and supplies for these services (>£250,000).
• Represent the TB/Bacteriology/Mycology services at regional and national meetings.
