Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a Biomedical Scientist Manager to oversee a laboratory section, ensuring high-quality patient care and compliant practice. The role involves mentoring staff, supervising investigations, and maintaining safety and audit standards.

You will lead on technical training, supervise teams, and contribute to service improvements within a dynamic NHS environment. This post requires HCPC registration and a strong track record in clinical science.

Qualifications

• State registration with the Health Professions Council is mandatory.
• MSc Biomedical Science or Fellowship with extensive BMS experience and CPD evidence.
• Formal evidence of highly specialist knowledge in discipline procedures.
• Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) and reflective practice.
• For cervical cytology staff, NHSCSP Cytology certification is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate day-to-day technical activities of a section within the department.
• Ensure standards and quality of performance, including problem solving.
• Process a broad range of laboratory investigations on patient samples.
• Advise clinicians on test appropriateness and timelines.
• Develop and deliver training and assess competence of staff.
