Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde seeks a Consultant in Microbiology to contribute to the broad range of laboratory and clinical roles within the department. Responsibilities include laboratory oversight, report authorisation, diagnostic and antimicrobial advice, and ward consultation.

Teaching and training are also part of the role. The post requires GMC registration with licence to practice, FRCPath (or equivalent), and a CCT (or equivalent) in Microbiology or Infectious Diseases, or be within 6

Qualifications

• GMC licence to practice is required.
• FRCPath or equivalent certification is required.
• CCT in Microbiology or Infectious Diseases (or within 6 months of registration at interview).

Responsibilities

• Oversee laboratory operations and quality control.
• Authorise diagnostic reports and provide antimicrobial guidance.
• Deliver ward-based microbiology consultation and support.
• Conduct teaching and training for staff and trainees.
