Job summary

Jonathan Lee Group is recruiting aTechnical Manager for an Ellesmere Port metals manufacturing operation. You will lead a multidisciplinary technical team, optimise manufacturing processes and translate R&D into reliable production while enabling a transition to 24/7 operation.

You will balance hands-on process development with strategic leadership, ensuring safety, quality and efficiency across production.

Qualifications

Degree or PhD in Metallurgy, Materials Science or closely related engineering/science.
Experience in metals manufacturing, metallurgy or advanced materials production.
2+ years leading engineers, scientists or technical personnel.
Proven ability to resolve manufacturing process problems and deliver improvements.
Knowledge of process safety, risk assessments, MOC and quality systems.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop the technical team, setting priorities and performance expectations.
Act as primary technical contact for manufacturing process issues across production.
Lead root-cause investigations using 8D and 5 Whys.
Define critical process parameters and control plans; monitor KPIs.
Translate R&D developments into repeatable production processes.
Oversee trials from lab to full-scale manufacturing.
Support capital projects and manufacturing capacity expansion.
Ensure training and readiness before new processes are introduced.
