Job summary

Renewable Equipment Solutions (R.E.S) is recruiting a Technical Manager for Yeovil to lead the technical team and own complex design work. The role focuses on mentoring, quality control of surveys and heat loss data, and supporting the estimating team.

You will personally execute advanced hydraulic and thermodynamic designs for high-value projects, maintaining up-to-date SOPs and documentation within the internal library.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a technical team and providing escalation support.
• Ability to interpret complex thermodynamic and compliance principles.
• Ability to translate technical designs into clear, actionable guidance for field staff.
• Proven experience with mechanical engineering principles in HVAC/heating projects.

Role overview

Technical Manager - Yeovil – R.E.S.

Responsibilities

• Acting as the ultimate technical escalation point and mentor for the Technical Supervisor team
• Accountability for the rigorous quality control and auditing of all incoming property surveys and heat loss data submitted via the Spruce platform
• Providing direct technical support to the internal Estimating Team
• Personally executing complex, non-standard schematic, hydraulic, and thermodynamic designs for high-value residential or light-commercial projects.
• Maintain, update, and govern the internal technical library, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and manufacturer documentation, ensuring all information remains 100% current and accurate.

This is a full-time, permanent role working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• MCS Framework Experience
• Advanced mechanical knowledge of Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) design principles, hydraulic balancing, low-temperature heating geometry, and domestic hot water sizing protocols.
• NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating or a relevant Mechanical Engineering discipline, alongside current G3 Unvented and WRAS/Water Regulations certifications.
• Proven proficiency in digital survey and heat loss software platforms (direct operational knowledge of Spruce or equivalent design tools)
• Ability to articulate complex thermodynamic and compliance principles into clear, actionable instructions for field staff
