Yolk Engineering is partnering with a well-established food manufacturer in Tewkesbury to recruit a Technical Manager. You will lead food safety, quality assurance, and technical compliance across the site, ensuring HACCP and BRCGS standards are upheld.

You'll develop and mentor Technical and Laboratory teams, collaborate with Production and Warehouse to raise standards, investigate issues, and support NPD and supplier approvals to drive continuous improvement across the business.

Formación

• Technical or Quality management experience within food manufacturing or FMCG.
• Experience in chilled or similarly regulated food production environment.
• Strong knowledge of BRCGS standards and involvement in audits.
• HND or equivalent qualification.
• Food Safety Level 3 and HACCP Level 3 qualifications.
• Auditing experience and strong knowledge of quality management systems.
• Proven experience leading and developing teams.
• Ability to challenge processes constructively while maintaining relationships.
• Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement experience.
• Dairy/short shelf-life/NPD experience is useful but not essential.

They have an exciting opportunity to join the business as a Laboratory Manager. The business is widely recognised for delivering high quality products throughout the United Kingdom. With a storied history spanning more than eight decades, they've earned a reputation for excellence and a steadfast dedication to providing premium, locally sourced products. You will lead a broad function covering quality, technical administration and laboratory operations. They are looking for someone with BRCGS, HACCP and food manufacturing experience and the business is equally focused on finding an approachable leader who can develop people, raise standards and build greater collaboration across the department.

This is what you'll be doing:

• Taking the lead on food safety, quality assurance, technical compliance and legal due diligence across the site.
• Maintaining and improving the company's food safety and quality management systems, including the HACCP plan.
• Preparing for and hosting BRCGS, customer, accreditation and other relevant third-party audits.
• Leading and developing the Technical and Laboratory teams, including managers, supervisors, technicians and support staff.
• Working closely with Production, Warehouse and other departments to improve standards, behaviours and audit readiness.
• Investigating complaints and non-conformances, identifying root causes and putting effective corrective actions in place.
• Supporting NPD activity, including supplier approval and the approval of new products and processes.
• Overseeing laboratory operations and continuing to improve quality control, hygiene and food safety culture across the business.

The experience you'll need in this role:

• Technical or Quality management experience within food manufacturing or FMCG.
• Previous experience working within a chilled or similarly regulated food production environment.
• Working knowledge of BRCGS standards and involvement in preparing for and managing audits.
• HND or equivalent qualification.
• Food Safety Level 3 and HACCP Level 3 qualifications.
• Internal and external auditing experience, alongside strong knowledge of food safety and quality management systems.
• Proven experience leading and developing teams, including managers or supervisors.
• The confidence to challenge poor processes or behaviours constructively while maintaining positive working relationships.
• Strong problem-solving, root-cause investigation and continuous-improvement experience.
• Dairy, short shelf-life, laboratory management, Halal audit or NPD experience would be particularly useful, although it is not essential.
