Job summary

Yolk Recruitment Ltd is partnering with a successful food producer in Tewkesbury to appoint a Technical Manager. You will lead quality, technical administration and laboratory operations, ensuring HACCP, food safety, and BRCGS compliance.

The ideal candidate will have HND or equivalent, Food Safety Level 3 and HACCP Level 3, auditing experience, and a proven track record of developing teams in a chilled or regulated environment. Salary £48k-£54k, with standard benefits.

Qualifications

• Technical or Quality management experience within food manufacturing or FMCG.
• Experience in a chilled or regulated food production environment.
• Working knowledge of BRCGS standards and involvement in audits.
• HND or equivalent qualification.
• Food Safety Level 3 and HACCP Level 3 qualifications.
• Auditing experience, and strong knowledge of food safety and quality management systems.
• Proven experience leading and developing teams.

Responsibilities

• Taking the lead on food safety, quality assurance, technical compliance and legal due diligence across the site.
• Maintaining and improving the company's food safety and quality management systems, including the HACCP plan.
• Preparing for and hosting BRCGS, customer, accreditation and other relevant third-party audits.
• Leading and developing the Technical and Laboratory teams, including managers, supervisors, technicians and support staff.
• Working closely with Production, Warehouse and other departments to improve standards, behaviours and audit readiness.
• Investigating complaints and non-conformances, identifying root causes and putting effective corrective actions in place.
• Supporting NPD activity, including supplier approval and the approval of new products and processes.
• Overseeing laboratory operations and continuing to improve quality control, hygiene and food safety culture across the business.

They have an exciting opportunity to join the business as a Laboratory Manager. The business is widely recognised for delivering high quality products throughout the United Kingdom. You will lead a broad function covering quality, technical administration and laboratory operations. They are looking for someone with BRCGS, HACCP and food manufacturing experience and the business is equally focused on finding an approachable leader who can develop people, raise standards and build greater collaboration across the department.

This is what you'll be doing:

The experience you'll need in this role:

• Technical or Quality management experience within food manufacturing or FMCG.


• Previous experience working within a chilled or similarly regulated food production environment.


• Working knowledge of BRCGS standards and involvement in preparing for and managing audits.


• HND or equivalent qualification.


• Food Safety Level 3 and HACCP Level 3 qualifications.


• Internal and external auditing experience, alongside strong knowledge of food safety and quality management systems.


• Proven experience leading and developing teams, including managers or supervisors.


• The confidence to challenge poor processes or behaviours constructively while maintaining positive working relationships.


• Strong problem-solving, root-cause investigation and continuous-improvement experience.


• Dairy, short shelf-life, laboratory management, Halal audit or NPD experience would be particularly useful, although it is not essential.
