Job summary

Orion Electrotech Ltd seeks an experienced Technical Manager / Commercial Manager to lead technical and commercial delivery of a busy rotating equipment operation. The role focuses on frontline customer liaison and coordinating cross-functional teams to prepare quotations, proposals and tender submissions.

You will bring a strong background in pumps and rotating equipment with leadership skills to ensure safe, high-quality project delivery and continuous improvement across workshops and field

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience minimum in rotating equipment or industrial mechanical engineering.
• Strong knowledge of pump systems: centrifugal, positive displacement, multistage and submersible.
• Experience reviewing engineering reports and repair specifications.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day workshop and field service operations for rotating equipment.
• Oversee pump repairs, overhauls, inspections and performance testing.
• Support quotations, repair proposals and tender submissions.
• Provide technical advice to customers and identify solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement in workshop efficiency and commercial performance.
• Build relationships with customers and suppliers and support business growth.

Are you an experienced Project Manager, Operations Manager, Commercial Manager, Technical Manager or Proposals Manager? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Manager / Commercial Manager / Technical Support Manager to lead the technical and commercial delivery of a busy rotating equipment operation. This role will focus on being the front line with customers and the glue between cross functional teams to undertake quotations on projects, create proposals and support tender submissions. Ideal for someone with a strong background in pumps and rotating equipment who is looking to take the next step into a senior technical management position.

Key Responsibilities

• The Technical Manager will manage the day-to-day operation of the workshop and field service teams.
• Oversee pump repairs, overhauls, inspections, alignment activities and performance testing.
• The Technical Manager will review technical assessments, repair specifications and engineering reports.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
• Support the preparation of quotations, repair proposals and tender submissions.
• Work closely with customers to provide technical advice and identify solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement, workshop efficiency and commercial performance.
• Build and maintain strong customer and supplier relationships.
• The Technical Manager will support business growth through technical consultations, site surveys and project opportunities.

About You

• The Technical Manager must have a strong background in rotating equipment or industrial mechanical engineering with 5 years' experience minimum.
• A background and knowledge of pump systems, centrifugal pumps, positive displacement, multistage and submersible pumps is ideal
• Experience with fault finding, vibration analysis, bearings, mechanical seals and alignment.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, engineering reports and performance data.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Commercial awareness with experience supporting quotations and customer proposals.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing abilities.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Desirable Experience

• HNC/HND or equivalent engineering qualification.
• Experience leading workshop, repair or service operations.
• Knowledge of industry standards relating to rotating equipment.
• Vibration analysis certification.
• Experience using maintenance or job-tracking systems.
