Job summary

Reed Specialist Recruitment is recruiting a Technical Manager for a major food manufacturer in the UK. The role leads the Technical, QA and Compliance functions at a large, established site, with responsibility for food safety, quality and customer standards.

You will drive audits, manage technical teams, and partner with production and NPD to sustain high standards across the business. The package includes a £55k–£65k salary, medical, pension, 32 days holiday and free meals.

Qualifications

• Experience in Technical Management or senior Technical leadership within Food Manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of HACCP, BRCGS standards, retailer requirements and food legislation.
• Experience leading customer audits and maintaining compliance in fast-paced production.
• Track record of developing teams and driving improvements in food safety and quality.
• Food-related degree or equivalent qualification (advantageous but not essential).

Responsibilities

• Lead the site technical, quality and compliance agenda.
• Maintain food safety, quality and compliance systems across the factory.
• Coordinate customer, retailer and third-party audits.

Are you an experienced Technical leader in the Food Manufacturing sector and looking for a high-impact role where you can take ownership of quality, food safety & technical work at a major food manufacturer supplying millions of products to major retailers?

This leading Food Manufacturer specialises in ready meal solutions for big supermarkets & foodservice providers, having over 100 years of history and a strong footprint both globally and in the UK. They operate several modern production facilities and have benefited from significant investment recently.

In this role you will be responsible for the Technical & QA function, ensuring products consistently meet food safety, legal and customer requirements. Working closely with operational teams, customers and senior stakeholders, you will drive standards, lead audit readiness, oversee quality systems and champion continuous improvement across the site.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable Technical Management experience in the Food Manufacturing sector with strong knowledge of retailer requirements, food safety systems and site audits, alongside a proven ability to manage and develop teams.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Leading the site technical agenda, overseeing Technical, Quality & Compliance
• Maintaining and enhancing food safety, quality and compliance systems across the factory
• Acting as the key contact for customer, retailer and third-party audits while driving successful outcomes
• Overseeing HACCP activities and ensuring products are manufactured to the highest standards
• Investigating quality and food safety issues, identifying trends and implementing preventative actions
• Working closely with Production, NPD and Process teams to support product quality and compliance
• Driving continuous improvement initiatives and helping modernise technical systems and processes

The ideal person will have:

• Previous experience in a Technical Management or senior Technical leadership role within Food Manufacturing
• Strong understanding of HACCP, BRCGS standards, retailer requirements and food legislation
• Experience leading customer audits and maintaining compliance within a fast-paced production environment
• A track record of developing teams and driving improvements in food safety and quality performance
• A food-related degree or equivalent qualification (advantageous but not essential)
