Job summary

The Bedford College Group is seeking a Technical Lecturer in Motor Vehicle at Tresham College – Corby Campus. This permanent, full-time role offers a competitive salary with a market supplement, 37 hours per week, and 52 weeks per year.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality motor vehicle teaching, assess student progress, and engage with industry links. You will need a Level 3 qualification with willingness to obtain teaching and assessor/verifier qualifications, plus GCSE English

Qualifications

• Level 3 relevant qualification is required with willingness to achieve teaching and assessor/verifier qualifications.
• Willingness to achieve teaching/assessor qualifications and GCSE English/Maths.
• GCSE English and Maths or equivalent must be demonstrated.

Responsibilities

• Teaching & Curriculum Delivery - plan and deliver high-quality motor vehicle teaching across courses and levels.
• Assessment & Student Progress - assess, verify and monitor student work per awarding body standards.
• Student Support & Development - guide and support learners through tutorials and vocational opportunities.
• Curriculum Innovation & Industry Engagement - contribute to curriculum development with industry links and enrichment activities.
• Quality, Administration & Compliance - maintain records, support IQA, and uphold safeguarding and health & safety standards.

Role: Technical Lecturer – Motor Vehicle

Location: Tresham College – Corby Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, plus up to a £10,000 market supplement, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays,Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About The Role

• Teaching & Curriculum Delivery - Plan and deliver high-quality teaching in light vehicle maintenance and repair across a range of courses and levels, using engaging and up-to-date learning materials.
• Assessment & Student Progress - Assess, verify, and monitor student work in line with awarding body standards, providing feedback and interventions to ensure achievement and progression.
• Student Support & Development - Guide and support learners through tutorials and vocational opportunities, promoting positive behaviour and helping them reach their full potential.
• Curriculum Innovation & Industry Engagement - Contribute to curriculum development, maintain current industry knowledge, and enhance learning through employer links, work experience, and enrichment activities.
• Quality, Administration & Compliance - Maintain accurate records, meet administrative and quality requirements (including IQA), support marketing activities, and uphold safeguarding, EDI, and health & safety standards.

About You

• Qualifications & Professional Development - Level 3 relevant qualification with willingness to achieve teaching and assessor/verifier qualifications, alongside GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
• Industry Knowledge & Inclusive Practice - Up-to-date subject knowledge with experience working with diverse groups and a strong understanding of equality and diversity in practice.
• Communication & Interpersonal Skills - Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and create a supportive learning environment.
• Organisation & Performance - Highly organised with the ability to meet deadlines, maintain high standards of performance, and work in line with organisational values.
