Job summary

J.P. Morgan Personal Investing is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead one of the Investment Platform areas, overseeing multiple high-impact engineering teams in London.

You will drive execution against the product roadmap while scaling technology, people and processes to support the business goals. In this role you will shape technical strategy, mentor managers and engineers, ensure reliable, secure systems, and collaborate with Risk, Compliance and Controls to meet regulatory

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer and 10+ years in technical leadership.
• Strong product and business mindset with experience in consumer-market products.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management across technical/non-technical audiences.
• Strong background in modern architectures (distributed systems, cloud-native, event-driven), SDLC and DevOps.
• Proven track record in leading and scaling agile teams delivering high-availability systems.
• Coaching, feedback, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Experience designing and leading agentic AI-enabled development practices across teams.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product to define and drive team strategy across multiple horizons.
• Translate strategy into requirements, prioritize roadmaps, and ensure on-time delivery.
• Oversee architectural decisions for scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Promote platform thinking, best practices, and manage technical debt with clear payoffs.
• Manage engineering costs, ROI, and vendor relations.
• Hire, develop and retain engineering managers and senior ICs.
