Funding Circle seeks an experienced Staff Engineer to lead technically within the MPX domain. You will drive architectural direction, mentor senior engineers and collaborate with product leadership to shape roadmaps and deliver high‑value multi‑product capabilities.

You’ll combine hands‑on coding with strategic oversight, champion AI‑driven innovation, and represent the function across the business. Hybrid London office, competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Curious mindset with a drive to continuously improve the Technology function.
• Leads solving high‑level problems while also contributing hands‑on.
• Strong documentation skills for designs and standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Experience in Python, Ruby or Java.
• Solid fundamentals in data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with Unix/Linux environments.
• Familiar with Agile, Scrum, BDD, TDD and CI/CD.
• Delivery of mission‑critical, high‑value products and services.
• Passion for emerging tech, especially Generative AI, to drive transformation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product leadership to shape technical direction and milestones.
• Write clear technical designs and standards for the MPX domain.
• Coach Lead Engineers and mentor junior staff.
• Apply Generative AI tools to innovate and accelerate engineering processes.
• Troubleshoot issues hands‑on while enabling teams to self‑solve.
• Present technology solutions and tradeoffs to stakeholders across Funding Circle.
• Own high‑level solution design decisions within the group.
• Represent Funding Circle externally at events and through network relationships.
