Location: HPC, Somerset

Hours of work: 40 hrs, 5-day pattern

Vacancy Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Nuclear Skills Alliance (NSA) as an Engineering Training Instructor at Hinkley Point C (HPC), where we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low-carbon electricity for around six million homes.

The NSA develops and delivers training in areas such as Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Engineering, Operations, Radiological Protection, Safety Rules, Chemistry, Fuel Route & Environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering The Engineering Programme and supporting other technical programmes as needed. They must be mobile to deliver training where required, ensuring personnel have the necessary initial knowledge to perform their roles effectively. The role demands accuracy in material preparation, adherence to training standards, and delivery excellence.

Principle Accountabilities

As a Training Instructor in NSA, you will impact organizational performance through quality training, supporting the NSA skills pool to meet business needs. You will work closely with HPC personnel to facilitate effective knowledge transfer, while developing your own skills and career.

The key duties include:

  • The development and delivery of training material in one or more key areas
  • Supporting training in classroom or workshop environments, coaching and mentoring trainees
  • Acting as course coordinator for responsible training areas
  • Leading and delivering training to groups of 1 to 20 people
  • Communicating with line managers to develop team competence
  • Maintaining stakeholder and SME relationships for material development
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Essential
  • HNC or higher qualification in a relevant technical subject or equivalent experience in science or engineering
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to apply current knowledge and adapt to new technology
  • Effective team functioning
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Mentoring and influencing skills
  • Mobility for training delivery away from HPC
Desirable
  • Knowledge of training processes
  • Experience in power generation or related industry
  • Familiarity with modern learning methods and media
  • Knowledge of Vision training tool
  • Recognized teaching/training qualification
  • Experience in customer and stakeholder relations
