Job title: Radiological/Radiography/Health Physics Technical Instructor

Job Type: Site based

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Start date: TBC

Duration: Contract

Salary/ Pay rate/ Benefits: TBC DOE / up to 290£/per day PAYE or 390£/per day UMB

Location: HPC, Somerset

Hours of work: 40 hrs, 5-day pattern

Rad Pro Technical Instructor

Reporting to the Engineering and Technical Training Group Head, based at Hinkley Point C, with a hybrid working arrangement supported. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Undertaking instructor training.
  2. Developing and delivering radiological protection and technical training material.
  3. Delivering training in classroom and plant simulator environments, and providing coaching and mentoring to expedite learning.
  4. Acting as course coordinator for responsible training areas.
  5. Leading and delivering training to groups from 1 to 20 people, depending on the subject and environment.
  6. Acting as the subject matter expert in your area, demonstrating a deep understanding of relevant company standards, and representing your areas within the company.
  7. Ensuring company values, safety, and OpEx are embedded throughout training, material, and lesson plans.
  8. Communicating with line managers to develop staff competence.
  9. Maintaining relationships with Nuclear Operations and EPR stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts for material development.
  10. Communicating with external contractors for training support if required.
  11. Contributing to the business plan of NSA and NNB to support organizational goals.
Who you are…

Your background may include some of the following:

  1. HNC or higher qualification in a relevant technical subject.
  2. Experience in radiological protection (Health Physics).
  3. Experience in power generation preferred; relevant experience in related industries considered.
  4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in customer and stakeholder relations.
  5. Ability to apply current knowledge and adapt to latest technology.
  6. Effective team functioning with mentoring and influencing skills.
  7. Ability to identify, analyze, and solve technical problems.
  8. Mobility to deliver training away from HPC location as required.
  9. Knowledge of training processes and delivering high-quality technical and practical training.
  10. Familiarity with modern learning methods and media, and experience integrating these into training development and delivery.
  11. Recognized teaching/training qualification (desirable).
  12. Good understanding of nuclear power plant systems and operations (desirable).
