Technical Financial Reporting Director

The Individual

Are you an experienced financial reporting specialist with a passion to excel, deliver exceptional quality, and drive growth and change? If so, this role is for you.

The Role

RSM’s audit technical department (NATS) provides technical support to RSM’s audit and financial advisory services business lines. A subset of NATS is the financial reporting specialist team, which provides support mainly on technical accounting and reporting matters. We are looking for an individual with strong financial and narrative reporting skills, experience dealing with complex financial reporting matters, and reviewing premium or standard listed company annual reports. The candidate should be able to:

• Work independently as well as part of a team
• Mentor junior personnel and assist in developing their technical and communication skills
• Contribute to the strategic and operational development of the department
• Work under time pressure and meet tight reporting deadlines

Responsibilities

Key roles and responsibilities include:

• Conduct technical pre-clearance reviews on annual reports for the firm’s highest risk audit clients
• Serve as a financial reporting specialist on the firm’s highest risk audit clients (depending on skills and specialisms)
• Provide technical advice and support on complex accounting and financial reporting matters
• Lead a sub-team on financial and narrative reporting and other departmental projects
• Sign off on technical advice provided by junior team members
• Utilize technical skills to develop the firm’s brand
• Propose and review internal technical communications, including training materials and guidance documents
• Recommend responses to regulatory changes
• Contribute comments and views on regulatory consultations
