Job summary

PRS is seeking a Technical Facilities Manager to oversee hard services on a large estate in North Yorkshire. The role covers management of engineering/maintenance, PPM and reactive work, and ensuring statutory compliance.

Typical hours are Mon-Fri, ~40 hours, with a basic salary of up to £50,000. Responsibilities include managing outsourced providers, developing maintenance schedules, coordinating projects, and maintaining high standards of facilities performance and safety.

Qualifications

  • Experience in management within the FM sector.
  • FM experience and leading hard services teams.
  • Able to plan and implement PPM maintenance schedules and asset surveys.
  • Man management of engineers.
  • Experience in building and plant room compliance and reporting.
  • Able to communicate with senior management, staff, visitors and contractors.
  • Experience auditing suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Experience planning projects/refurbishment works.
  • Budget control experience.
  • Technical background (mechanical or electrical).
  • Able to pass a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day delivery of facilities services across the organisation, including engineering maintenance.
  • Manage the performance of outsourced service providers and contractors, ensuring services are delivered to agreed standards.
  • Develop and manage planned preventative maintenance schedules, reactive maintenance processes, and reporting systems.
  • Coordinate and oversee one-off maintenance projects and improvement works.
  • Lead the management of external maintenance contractors, ensuring work is completed safely and to required quality.
  • Oversee maintenance operations and estate standards, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and high-quality services.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for facilities-related inspections, audits, regulatory requirements, and statutory compliance matters.
  • Carry out regular inspections of buildings, grounds, facilities, and workplace services.
  • Manage workspace planning and utilisation to meet evolving needs.
  • Monitor and report on facilities performance, including service levels, maintenance activity, budgets, contractor performance, sustainability initiatives, and customer satisfaction.
  • Drive continuous improvement across facilities operations.
  • Work collaboratively with soft services teams across the estate and other departments.

Position: Technical Facilities Manager

Type: Permanent

Location: Wetherby / York

Salary: Up to £50,000 basic salary

We are recruiting for a Hard Services / Technical Facilities Manager to work on a large scale estate in the North Yorkshire area providing total building and facilities services management. The successfully candidate with be managing the engineering/maintenance to ensure service levels are correct and statutory compliance. The role will involve managing the PPM and reactive maintenance operations to ensure building services effectiveness. The position is Monday to Friday c40 hours per week paying a basic salary of up to £50,000.

Technical Facilities Manager Description

  • Manage the performance of outsourced service providers and contractors, ensuring services are delivered to agreed standards, represent value for money, and support business needs.
  • Develop and manage planned preventative maintenance schedules, reactive maintenance processes, and reporting systems to ensure buildings, equipment, and facilities remain well maintained and fit for purpose.
  • Coordinate and oversee one-off maintenance projects and improvement works.
  • Lead the management of external maintenance contractors, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.
  • Oversee maintenance operations and estate standards, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and maintaining high-quality services for employees and visitors.

  • Work collaboratively with soft services teams across the estate and other departments to ensure facilities services effectively support organisational priorities and business objectives.
Requirements
  • Experience of Management in the FM sector
  • Facilities Management experience and leading teams and Hard services personnel
  • Able to plan and implement PPM maintenance schedules and asset surveys
  • Man management of engineers
  • Experienced in building and plant room compliance and associated documentation and reporting
  • Able to communicate with senior management, staff, visitors and contractors
  • Experience of auditing suppliers and sub-contractors
  • Ideally to have some experience in planning projects and refurbishment works
  • To have previous experience of budget control
  • To ideally have a tehcnical background (mechanical or electrical)
  • Able to pass a security clearance
