Job summary

British Engineering Services Group is seeking a Technical Estimator for Inspire Structures to lead scope evaluation, resource estimation and supplier engagement for infrastructure investigation, inspection and surveying works.

You will develop compliant access methods and prepare bids, working flexibly between home and Manchester/Ilkeston offices while leveraging your Excel expertise and sector experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in engineering/examining or project management in infrastructure.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and data handling.
• Leading teams across complex programmes of work across structural inspections, investigations and surveys.
• UK Driving License.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate estimates, tenders, quotations and bids in line with statutory, client and temporary works requirements.
• Develop compliant and innovative specialist access methodologies for structural inspections, surveys and engineering activities.
• Engage with operational teams, clients and the supply chain to obtain competitive subcontractor quotes.
• Carry out pre-tender planning, desktop studies, site visits and supplier engagement.
• Present commercial estimates at bid reviews, providing clear insight and recommendations.
• Ensure bid management data on our systems is accurately recorded and updated when required.
• Support effective handovers to the operational team following award of a contract.

This role requiresa combination ofhomebased working and working from one of our offices – Manchester or Ilkeston.

What will you be doing?

As aTechnicalEstimatorfor Inspire Structures, part of British Engineering Services Group, you will lead on the scope evaluation, resource estimation and supplier engagement for infrastructure investigation,inspectionand surveying works. You will utilise your existing technical and operational knowledge to inform, manage and manipulate estimating processes.

You will also:

• Prepareaccurateestimates, tenders,quotationsand bids in line with statutory, client andtemporary works requirements.

• Engage with operational teams,clientsand the supply chain to obtain competitive subcontractor quotes.

To join our team, you will need:

• Level 3 qualification in Engineering/Surveying/Project Management or Bridge Inspection competency (e.g. BICS/STE4/STE7).
• Hold an IRATA specialist access competency
• Hold IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
• Previousexperience in engineering/examining or project management in the infrastructure industry.
• Experienced and competent in the use ofMicrosoft Excel.
• Experience of leading teams and managing complex programmes of work across structural inspections,investigationsand surveys.
• UK Driving License.
