Job summary

British Engineering Services Group is recruiting a Technical Estimator for Inspire Structures, combining home-based work with office duties in Manchester or Ilkeston. You will lead scope evaluation, resource estimation and supplier engagement for infrastructure investigations, inspections, and surveys.

You will prepare estimates, bids and quotations, develop compliant access methods and coordinate with clients and subcontractors to secure competitive quotes.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Engineering/Surveying/Project Management or Bridge Inspection competency.
• IRATA specialist access competency held.
• IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
• Experience in engineering/examining or project management in infrastructure.
• Experience leading teams on complex programmes of work across structural inspections, investigations and surveys.

Responsibilities

• Lead on scope evaluation, resource estimation and supplier engagement for infrastructure investigation, inspection and surveying works.
• Prepare accurate estimates, tenders, quotations and bids in line with statutory, client and temporary works requirements.
• Develop compliant and innovative specialist access methodologies for structural inspections, surveys and engineering activities.
• Engage with operational teams, clients and the supply chain to obtain competitive subcontractor quotes.
• Carry out pre-tender planning, desktop studies, site visits and supplier engagement.
• Present commercial estimates at bid reviews with clear insight and recommendations.
• Ensure bid management data is accurately recorded and updated in our systems.

This role requiresa combination ofhomebased working and working from one of our offices – Manchester or Ilkeston.

What will you be doing?

As aTechnicalEstimatorfor Inspire Structures, part of British Engineering Services Group, you will lead on the scope evaluation, resource estimation and supplier engagement for infrastructure investigation,inspectionand surveying works. You will utilise your existing technical and operational knowledge to inform, manage and manipulate estimating processes.

You will also:

• Prepareaccurateestimates, tenders,quotationsand bids in line with statutory, client andtemporary works requirements.
• Develop compliant and innovative specialist access methodologies for structural inspections,surveysand engineering activities.
• Engage with operational teams,clientsand the supply chain to obtain competitive subcontractor quotes.
• Carry outpre‑tenderplanning, desktop studies, sitevisitsand supplier engagement.
• Present commercial estimates at bid reviews, providing clear insight and recommendations.
• Ensure that bid management data on our systems is accurately recorded and updated whenrequired.
• Support effective handovers to the operational team following award of a contract.

To join our team, you will need:

• Level 3 qualification in Engineering/Surveying/Project Management or Bridge Inspection competency (e.g. BICS/STE4/STE7).
• Hold an IRATA specialist access competency
• Hold IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
• Previousexperience in engineering/examining or project management in the infrastructure industry.
• Experienced and competent in the use ofMicrosoft Excel.
• Experience of leading teams and managing complex programmes of work across structural inspections,investigationsand surveys.
• UK Driving License.
