Employment: Full-Time | Permanent

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Technical Director to play a key role in the next phase of growth across the data centre and business-critical infrastructure sector.

Reporting to the CEO and joining the Senior Management Team, this is a newly created, high-impact role combining technical leadership, commercial growth, customer engagement and service development.

The role is primarily commercial rather than operational. You will help win complex opportunities, shape technical solutions, develop new services, build strategic partnerships and provide senior technical assurance across the business.

Initially, the role will operate without direct reports and will require someone who can influence across sales, operations, delivery and leadership through credibility and expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the senior technical authority for major bids, tenders, pre-sales and customer engagements.
  • Work with sales to shape complex opportunities and develop commercially compelling solutions.
  • Translate customer requirements into practical, deliverable and profitable technical propositions.
  • Identify and develop new services, propositions and routes to market.
  • Build business cases covering customer value, pricing, risk and commercial potential.
  • Contribute technical and market insight to company strategy and growth plans.
  • Advise the CEO and Senior Management Team on technical, commercial and market opportunities.
  • Provide technical assurance on complex scopes, proposals, RAMS and business-critical projects.
  • Develop strategic relationships with technology vendors, suppliers and delivery partners.
  • Support expansion into new markets across the UK and Europe.
  • Promote technical standards, quality, continuous improvement and best practice.
Your Experience

You will have substantial senior-level experience within the data centre, IT infrastructure or business-critical infrastructure sector, ideally within a service provider, systems integrator, operator, manufacturer or related environment.

Experience should include several of the following:

  • Data centre infrastructure and operations
  • Physical IT infrastructure
  • Technology relocations and hardware deployment
  • Server, network infrastructure and structured cabling
  • Data centre migration and deployment
  • Technical solution design and pre-sales
  • Complex bids and tenders
  • Technical assurance and RAMS
  • Service development and commercial propositions
  • Pricing, margin and risk management
  • Strategic supplier and customer management
What We're Looking For
  • Proven leadership-level experience within the data centre or infrastructure sector.
  • Strong understanding of physical IT infrastructure and live, high-availability environments.
  • Experience supporting complex, high-value sales opportunities and customer engagements.
  • Ability to turn technical capability and customer requirements into compelling commercial propositions.
  • Experience developing or launching new services or propositions.
  • Strong commercial judgement covering pricing, margin, risk and deliverability.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Credibility with senior executives, technical stakeholders and delivery teams.
  • Ability to influence and lead cross-functional initiatives without formal authority.
  • Strategic thinking combined with practical understanding of delivery, safety, quality and risk.
  • Comfortable working autonomously at senior leadership level.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across the UK and Europe.
  • Strategic supplier or technology partnership experience.
  • Enterprise or hyperscale customer experience.
The Person

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Commercially ambitious and motivated by growth.
  • Technically credible and respected by customers and technical teams.
  • Entrepreneurial and pragmatic, able to turn ideas into viable services.
  • Clear and persuasive in communicating technical and commercial concepts.
  • Influential and collaborative, comfortable challenging and shaping decisions.
  • Strategic but practical, with a strong focus on safety, quality and deliverability.
  • Self-directed and accountable, comfortable operating with significant autonomy.
  • Customer focused, with a genuine understanding of customer challenges.
Why Join?

This is a rare opportunity to shape a newly created Technical Director role and directly influence the growth strategy of an established data centre and infrastructure services business.

You will have the opportunity to combine technical authority, commercial influence and strategic responsibility while developing new services, shaping major opportunities and building the company's future market position.

  • For an ambitious data centre professional ready to move beyond operational leadership into a commercial, strategic and executive-level role, this is an opportunity to make a visible and lasting impact.
