Job summary

Dalcour Maclaren is seeking a Technical Director in Planning to lead complex planning work across UK utilities and infrastructure projects. You will oversee a small team, manage client relationships, and drive high-quality consents and strategy in line with the company Growth Plan.

The role requires chartered MRTPI with strong planning system knowledge, excellent communication, and a proactive, commercially aware mindset. UK driving licence and cross-discipline collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Relevant planning degree required and MRTPI chartered membership.
• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team to deliver strategic planning advice for utilities and infrastructure projects.
• Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders including client teams and local planning authorities.
• Deliver complex projects to deadlines, ensuring client objectives are met and quality standards.
• Support business development and cross-sell wider company services.
• Mentor junior colleagues and oversee progress with regular reviews.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of planning guidance, legislation and policy.
