Job summary

Dalcour Maclaren is seeking a Technical Director in Planning to lead complex UK infrastructure and renewables projects. You will manage a team, guide client relationships and secure planning approvals across utilities and development schemes.

The role requires a Chartered MRTPI, deep knowledge of the UK planning system, strong analytical and communication skills, and a commitment to business growth with mentoring of junior staff.

Qualifications

• A relevant planning degree and MRTPI.
• Strong working knowledge of the UK planning system.
• Analytical and presentation skills.
• Ability to write fee proposals for complex projects and advise on multi-disciplinary work.
• Commercial awareness and client negotiation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Solid GIS and environmental discipline knowledge.
• Self-motivation and organisation.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Team player with a can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a small team to deliver strategic planning services for a variety of UK clients.
• Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders including client teams, planning authorities and consultees.
• Report to clients, manage performance and ensure delivery against programmes.
• Support business development and cross-sell wider services.
• Maintain CPD and progress records; lead ongoing learning.
• Act as a technical expert, produce thought leadership and speak at events.
• Mentor junior staff and provide line management if applicable.
• Engage in company initiatives and promote DM's values.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws and policies.
