The Role

The Junior Design Technician supports the Design Team by helping prepare, manage and control clear, accurate flat roof design information.

This is an entry-level technical role for someone who wants to build a career in construction design. The role gives exposure to CAD, flat roof systems, construction products, technical drawings, project information, document control and Common Data Environments.

Document control and project information management are important parts of the role because they help the Junior Design Technician understand how design information is created, checked, issued, revised and used on live construction projects. This is not an administrative role; it is a foundation role into technical design.

The Junior Design Technician works closely with Design Technicians, Technical Sales Managers, Technical Roof Surveyors and other technical teams. The focus is on supporting accurate design information while developing the knowledge and judgement needed to progress towards a Design Technician role.

Job Purpose

The Junior Design Technician helps projects run smoothly by:

  • Managing drawings, documents and project information through agreed systems, including Common Data Environments.
  • Keeping drawing submissions, approvals, comments and revisions accurate and traceable.
  • Supporting Design Technicians with defined parts of the design process.
  • Helping reduce errors, missing information, delays and rework.
  • Developing knowledge of flat roof systems, construction products, technical drawings and project workflows.

All work supports project delivery, customer requirements, technical accuracy or commercial outcomes.

About the Team
