Job summary

Morrisons is seeking a Shift Manager at our Northwich site to lead the technical team across all departments. You will report to the Site Technical Manager and drive day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with food safety, legality, quality and site standards.

You will investigate microbiological results, manage the HACCP plan, maintain documentation, and contribute to site accreditations and continuous improvement. This role offers progression and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• Degree in science or related field (e.g., science, food technology, chemistry, microbiology, engineering, manufacturing or business).
• Strong safety, legality, compliance and quality knowledge across supply chain and product range.
• Experience with high-risk environments and thermal processing is desirable.
• Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical team across all departments on a day-to-day basis.
• Ensure compliance with site technical standards and procedures.
• Deliver food safety, legality, quality and integrity for all brands and customers.
• Investigate and report adverse microbiological results.
• Manage the site HACCP plan and process validations.
• Support and advise colleagues on technical issues.
• Develop and implement technical policies and procedures.
• Maintain site document control and drive site audits and accreditations.
• Prepare weekly, monthly and yearly site reports and collate information for management.
• Utilise M-create portal to manage product information.

It's fast and ever-changing - are you up for the challenge? Reporting to the Site Technical Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day management and guidance of the technical team across all departments. Ensuring the team comply with Myton Food Group / site technical standards and procedures under the guidance of the Site Technical Manager.

Other tasks will include:

• Delivering food safety, legality, quality and integrity for all our customers and brands along with ensuring that all designated procedures and practices comply with legal, BRC and MMS requirements
• Responsible for investigating and reporting adverse microbiological results
• Manage product information through M-create portal
• Responsibility for the site HACCP Plan
• Support and advise colleagues on technical issues
• Develop, implement and ensure compliance to Technical policies and procedures applicable to the site
• Consistently and proactively manage site trends and risks
• Playing an active role in achieving site accreditations where applicable
• Manage site internal audit process and manage site process validations along with maintaining and managing site document control
• Collate site information for reports on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis

More about you

As well as the ability to work at pace, you will also need to have:

• Relevant experience or a degree in science, food technology, chemistry, microbiology, engineering, manufacturing or business
• Knowledge of safety, legality, compliance and quality across supply chain and produce range
• Previous experience/knowledge of high risk coupled with thermal processing knowledge/experience
• Strong analytical and decision making skills
• Excellent communication skills and solution focussed problem solver
• A proven track record of people management and delivering strong results through a team in a people management role
