Job summary

EMBS Engineering in the North Nottingham region is seeking an Engineering Buyer to join a dedicated purchasing team. You will purchase goods, materials and services for production, balancing price, quality, lead times and supplier penalties to maintain supply.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years as a buyer in an engineering environment, with exposure to machining, fabrication or welding. Knowledge of the London Metal Exchange and stockist-style procurement will be advantageous.

Qualifications

• Excellent negotiation skills to effectively secure best prices and terms.
• Experience with procurement processes and supplier management.
• Track record of identifying cost-saving opportunities through strategic procurement.
• Knowledge of raw materials markets and exposure to LME pricing is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Purchase goods, materials, and commodities to meet production needs, balancing price, quality, delivery lead times, and supplier penalties.
• Manage end-to-end purchasing for engineering materials and services within budget constraints.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to determine procurement needs, specs, and project timelines.
• Monitor supplier performance and seek improvements to optimise relationships.
• Negotiate contracts and pricing while ensuring compliance with quality standards.
• Assist in developing purchasing policies to improve efficiency.
• Monitor inventory levels and assist in forecasting to avoid shortages and excess.
