Guided Talent Limited is seeking an Engineering Buyer for our client in Great Gransden. The role covers sourcing engineered components, raw materials, tooling and services across manufacturing projects, with close collaboration to engineering, production and quality teams.
The ideal candidate will read drawings and BOMs, negotiate terms and manage supplier performance, while driving cost reductions and supporting NPI initiatives. A Degree or equivalent in engineering or procurement is desirable.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Buyer to join a successful and growing engineering manufacturer based in Great Gransden.
This is a varied, hands-on purchasing role where you will be responsible for sourcing and procuring engineered components, raw materials, tooling and technical services required across manufacturing and engineering projects.
Working closely with engineering, production and quality teams, you will help ensure materials and components are sourced at the right quality, cost and lead time, while building strong supplier relationships and identifying opportunities to improve purchasing performance.
You will manage the sourcing and purchasing of engineered components, raw materials, tooling and technical services, obtaining and evaluating supplier quotations and negotiating pricing, contracts and commercial terms.
A key part of the position will involve interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure purchasing requirements are clearly understood and accurately communicated to suppliers.
You will monitor supplier performance across cost, quality and delivery, resolve supply chain issues such as late deliveries or specification discrepancies, and work closely with internal engineering, production and quality teams.
You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate procurement information including pricing, lead times, supplier performance and inventory data, while identifying cost‑saving opportunities through alternative sourcing, supplier optimisation and value engineering.
The role will also support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, sourcing prototype materials and engaging with suppliers to ensure technical and commercial requirements are achieved.
You will ideally have previous experience as an Engineering Buyer, Technical Buyer, Manufacturing Buyer, Buyer or Procurement Specialist within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
You should have a good understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and supply chain principles, together with strong supplier negotiation and relationship management skills.
Experience reading engineering drawings, technical specifications and BOMs would be highly beneficial, along with experience using ERP or MRP systems.
You will need strong commercial awareness, good analytical and problem‑solving skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with engineering, production, quality and supply chain teams.
Experience within engineering, industrial manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, electronics or a similar technical sector would be advantageous.
A Degree, HNC or HND in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Procurement or a related discipline would be beneficial.
A CIPS qualification, or working towards CIPS accreditation, would also be advantageous, although this is not essential.
