Job summary

Euro Projects Recruitment - Engineering, Manufacturing & Technology is seeking a Buyer to join a manufacturing/engineering environment. You will identify and source suppliers to reduce material costs, manage POs, and negotiate terms while maintaining strong supplier relationships.

The role is fast-paced with cross-functional interaction and requires solid Excel skills, ERP/MRP experience, and a track record in procurement. The salary ranges £35,000–£40,000 plus 25 days holiday and flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Experience in purchasing/procurement, preferably in manufacturing/engineering.
• Metals/steel experience is advantageous.
• Experience raising and managing purchase orders.
• Strong supplier relationship and communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy; advanced Excel helpful.
• Experience using ERP/MRP or purchasing systems; familiarity with procurement software.

Responsibilities

• Raising, processing, and managing purchase orders.
• Obtaining and comparing supplier quotations for competitive pricing.
• Liaising with suppliers on pricing, lead times and delivery schedules.
• Monitor outstanding purchase orders and follow up on delays.
• Work with KPIs to monitor supplier performance.
• Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier records in the ERP system.
• Assist with supplier selection, onboarding and ongoing management.
• Negotiate pricing and delivery terms with suppliers.
• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Due to continued growth, we are working in partnership with an established engineering manufacturer to recruit an experienced Buyer to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced purchasing professional with a track record of identifying and sourcing new suppliers to help reduce material costs. As prices can vary at short notice, the role is fast paced in nature. Strong communication skills and relationship building with suppliers are both important qualities for this role as you will liaise with multiple contacts across all levels on a daily basis.

Salary & Hours: £35,000 to £40,000 per annum + 25 days holiday. Flexible hours / early Friday finish.

This Buyer job will suit:

• Demonstrable experience within a purchasing / procurement environment, preferably within a manufacturing / engineering business. Specific metals / steel experience would be highly relevant.
• Experience of raising and managing purchase orders.
• Strong supplier relationship and communication skills.
• Good commercial and negotiation skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy. A good amount of Excel experience is required.
• Experience using an ERP, MRP or purchasing system.
• CIPS / Purchasing related qualifications are desirable, but not essential for the right character fit.

The Buyer job will involve:
