Job summary

Vanrath is seeking a Technical Business Analyst to join its Business Improvement team in Belfast. You will analyse business processes, data structures and systems to identify opportunities for improvement and drive operational efficiencies in a growing technology and telecommunications organisation.

You will gather and document requirements, facilitate workshops, translate needs into technical specs, and work with development teams across Agile and Waterfall projects to deliver tangible business

Qualifications

• Significant BA experience in technical or systems-focused environments.
• Proven ability to gather and document functional and non-functional requirements.
• Strong understanding of business processes and systems analysis methodologies.
• Experience producing BRDs, functional specs and test plans.

My client, a growing organisation within the technology and telecommunications sector, is hiring a Technical Business Analyst to join its Business Improvement team based in Belfast. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting business improvement projects and programmes, analysing business processes, systems and data structures to identify opportunities for improvement and drive operational efficiencies.

You will be joining an organisation focused on delivering innovative technology and infrastructure solutions, with a strong emphasis on improving business operations, customer experience and operational efficiency. This is an opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders and technical teams, contributing to projects that will have a tangible impact across the wider business. As a Technical Business Analyst, you will investigate business functions, processes, data structures and information flows, identifying opportunities to improve existing systems and operations. You will gather and document functional and non-functional requirements, facilitate stakeholder workshops and translate business needs into clear technical specifications. You will also produce key business analysis documentation, including Business Requirements Documents, specifications, test plans and process flows, while working closely with development teams to support project delivery across Agile and Waterfall environments.

The Person

• Significant experience working as a Business Analyst, ideally within a technical or systems-focused environment.
• Proven experience gathering, analysing and documenting functional and non-functional requirements.
• Strong understanding of business processes, systems analysis and business requirements methodologies.
• Experience producing business analysis documentation, including BRDs, functional specifications and test plans.
• Knowledge of data modelling, data objects, class diagrams and information flows.
• Experience facilitating workshops and gathering requirements from senior stakeholders.
• Ability to investigate operational issues, identify root causes and recommend effective solutions.
• Experience managing project workstreams and tracking delivery against project plans.
• Proven experience working within both Agile and Waterfall project environments.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a small development team.
• Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Relevant Business Analysis or Systems Analysis qualification.

Desirable

• Experience within the telecommunications sector.
• Experience using Jira.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 document control processes.
• Experience with proof-of-concept and prototyping exercises.
