Job summary

Atlas Copco is seeking an experienced Technical Project Engineer to lead bidding and tendering for compressed air pipework installations. You will own projects from inquiry to submission, ensuring accurate, competitive bids and profitable outcomes.

You will review inquiries, prepare comprehensive tenders, and present cost estimates to the line manager for sign-off, while coordinating materials, subcontractors, and on-site surveys to validate feasibility.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience estimating mechanical piping systems.
• Experience in compressed air, fluid power, or industrial gas installations.
• Ability to read and interpret construction and mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of pipework materials, pressure drops and flow rates.
• Proficiency with estimating software and Excel.
• Willingness to travel in the UK for site surveys and client meetings.
• Strong mathematical acumen and attention to detail.
• Excellent written English for drafting professional tender proposals.
• HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or Quantity Surveying (preferred).
• Valid UK driving license.

Responsibilities

• Lead bid management and end-to-end pricing for installation tenders, including BOM and labor estimates.
• Prepare comprehensive financial tenders and technical proposal documents.
• Present cost estimates and profit forecast to line manager for approval.
• Source competitive quotes from suppliers and subcontractors; account for ancillary equipment.
• Conduct on-site surveys to assess feasibility and ensure drawings match conditions.
• Map optimal pipework routing and material selection; perform value engineering proposals.
• Provide clear handovers to PPS project delivery team after winning bids.
