Job summary

The Royal Shakespeare Company is seeking a Technical Assistant Stage Manager to join Matilda The Musical in London. The appointed candidate would ideally start in January 2026.

The role involves working within the Stage Management and Automation departments to ensure the smooth running of performances and rehearsals, with emphasis on safe working practices and rigging/automation systems. West End experience is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a technical assistant stage manager.
• Good knowledge of theatre rigging and automation systems.
• Ability to support smooth performance and rehearsal runs.
• Experience in West End environment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist with stage management tasks during performances and rehearsals.
• Collaborate with Stage Management and Automation teams to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Support cueing, communication, and show changeovers.
• Contribute to the maintenance and safety of rigging equipment.
