Job summary

Stoneswood Precision Components Ltd is offering a Technical Apprentice role in a high‑precision aerospace manufacturing environment in Dukinfield. You will work alongside experienced engineers and manufacturing staff, gaining hands‑on experience across CNC machining, manufacturing engineering, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.

You will develop skills through a structured apprenticeship programme, learning to interpret engineering drawings, support NPI and process improvements, and

Qualifications

  • GCSEs in Maths, English and STEM subjects are required.
  • Interest in engineering and manufacturing is essential.
  • Good problem solving, communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and attention to detail are important.

Responsibilities

  • Train across CNC machining centres and understand aerospace processes.
  • Assist with CNC programming, CAD/CAM activities, setup sheets and tooling data.
  • Support new product introduction, prove-outs and process improvements.
  • Interpret drawings, specifications and technical documents.
  • Support inspection, quality records and corrective actions.

Are you looking to start your career in engineering and manufacturing? Stoneswood Precision Components Ltd has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Apprentice to gain hands‑on experience within a high‑precision aerospace manufacturing environment in Dukinfield.

About the opportunity

Working alongside experienced engineers, machinists, and quality personnel, you will support Engineering and Manufacturing teams while completing a structured apprenticeship programme. You will develop skills across CNC machining, manufacturing engineering, quality assurance, continuous improvement, and production support.

Main Duties
  • Train across CNC machining centres and develop an understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes.
  • Assist with CNC programming, CAD/CAM activities, setup sheets, tooling data, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Support new product introduction, machining prove‑outs, and process improvements.
  • Learn to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Take part in continuous improvement activities to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Support inspection, quality documentation, non‑conformance investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records and follow company quality, health and safety, and environmental procedures.
Essential Skills
  • GCSEs, or equivalent, in Mathematics, English and a STEM‑related subject.
  • A strong interest in engineering, manufacturing, and technology.
  • Good problem‑solving, communication, organisational, and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn, develop new technical skills, and work with attention to detail.
Desired Skills
  • A‑Level, BTEC, T‑Level or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Mathematics, Physics, or a related subject.
  • Basic understanding of CNC machining, CAD/CAM software, engineering principles, or manufacturing processes.
  • Previous engineering, workshop, or manufacturing experience.
Personal Attributes
  • Enthusiastic, reliable, punctual, and professional.
  • Positive attitude towards learning, quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Able to follow instructions, work independently when required, and stay committed to completing the apprenticeship programme.
Training and Development
  • The successful candidate will receive structured training and mentoring in key areas including:
  • CNC machining, manufacturing processes, and CAD/CAM programming.
  • Manufacturing engineering, production planning, and ERP systems.
  • Aerospace quality standards, inspection, and engineering drawing interpretation.
  • Continuous improvement, problem solving, root cause analysis, and health, safety and environmental practices.

This role provides a pathway into Manufacturing Engineering, CNC Programming, Production Engineering, Quality Engineering, or other technical roles within Stoneswood Precision Components Ltd.
