Job description

The opportunity

We are looking for highly capable Technical Analysts to join our technology function as flexible, delivery-focused professionals at the centre of how Openwork gets important work done.

This is a generalist role, where you will be deployed within one of our three solution delivery tribes, supporting the areas of highest priority. You’ll bring structured analytical thinking, strong documentation skills, and technical hands‑on delivery support to a variety of initiatives.

You must have worked within a full development cycle before, ideally within a Fintech environment. You will be a key enabler for engineering teams in the delivery of high-quality software solutions, spanning a detailed involvement throughout the Software Development Life Cycle from requirements to quality assurance and fault finding.

No two assignments will be the same. One day you may be eliciting requirements from stakeholders, the next analysing data for a migration decision, mapping legacy systems, or producing technical documentation for integrations. What remains constant is your commitment to quality, rigour, and outputs that teams can confidently build upon.

You will work within an engineering squad, but take ownership of your workstream, managing stakeholder relationships, and delivering high-quality artefacts with minimal rework. At the same time, you’ll demonstrate strong judgement in knowing when to elevate, seek direction, or reassess scope.

This is a hybrid role based in Swindon with 3 days a week required in the office.

The Benefits
  • Salary - up to £58,500
  • Bonus scheme - on target bonus - 10%
  • Pension scheme - contribute up to 5% of your salary and Openwork will match you and put in an extra 5%
  • Critical illness cover
  • Income protection
  • Death in service - 4x salary
  • 27 days holiday + bank holidays, with the opportunity to buy up to an additional 10 days
  • A range of other flexible benefits to include private medical insurance, dental insurance and much more.
What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you’ll work across business and technology teams to understand what needs to change, translate ideas into clear requirements, and help shape practical solutions that support successful delivery.

  • Work with stakeholders to gather, analyse and document business and technical requirements.
  • Turn requirements into clear delivery artefacts, including user stories, functional specifications, process maps and acceptance criteria delivered to Software Development teams.
  • Analyse data and process information to support programme decisions, delivery planning and prioritisation.
  • Create and maintain high-quality documentation, such as system descriptions, integration specifications, data dictionaries and process flows.
  • Review legacy systems to understand current capabilities, dependencies and opportunities for simplification or decommissioning.
  • Support development and integration workstreams by helping define system requirements, integration designs and API‑related documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for automation by documenting current processes, assessing potential improvements and building supporting business or technical cases.
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions, capturing outputs clearly and turning discussions into actionable plans and deliverables.
  • Keep documentation accurate, up to date and easy to use across assignments.
  • Support planning and estimation by breaking work down into clear, manageable deliverables.
What will you need to succeed?
  • Demonstrable experience in a technical analyst, or systems analyst role, with a track record of working across both business and technical domains
  • Experience producing a broad range of analytical artefacts: requirements documentation, process maps, data analysis, system maps, and technical specifications.
  • Experience working within technology delivery teams using agile or hybrid delivery approaches.
  • Financial services experience or certifications (e.g CeMap, DipFA) would be a strong advantage but not essential; a willingness to get up to speed quickly on the domain is required.
  • Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience. Business analysis qualifications (BCS, IIBA, or similar) are advantageous.
