Job summary

Openwork Limited is seeking highly capable Technical Analysts to join our technology function as flexible, delivery-focused professionals at the centre of how Openwork gets important work done. This hybrid Swindon role is deployed in one of our three solution delivery tribes, supporting priority initiatives.

You will gather and document requirements, translate ideas into artefacts, and enable engineering teams across the software lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Experience as technical analyst or systems analyst.
  • Experience producing analytical artefacts: requirements docs, process maps, data analysis, system maps, specs.
  • Experience with agile or hybrid delivery approaches.
  • Financial services knowledge or certification is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyse and document business and technical requirements.
  • Turn requirements into delivery artefacts (user stories, specs, process maps).
  • Analyse data to support programme decisions, planning and prioritisation.
  • Create high-quality documentation (system descriptions, integration specs, data dictionaries).
  • Review legacy systems for capabilities and opportunities for simplification or decommissioning.
  • Define system requirements and API-related documentation to support integration workstreams.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and build business/technical cases.
  • Facilitate workshops and capture outputs into actionable plans.

Job description

We are looking for highly capable Technical Analysts to join our technology function as flexible, delivery-focused professionals at the centre of how Openwork gets important work done.

This is a generalist role, where you will be deployedwithin one ofour three solution delivery tribes, supporting the areas of highest priority.You’llbring structured analytical thinking, strong documentation skills, andtechnical hands-ondelivery support to a variety of initiatives.You must have worked within a full development cycle before, ideally within aFintech environment. You will be a key enabler for engineering teams in the delivery of high-quality software solutions, spanning adetailedinvolvementthroughout the Software Development Life Cyclefrom requirements to quality assuranceand fault finding.

No two assignments will be the same. One day you may be eliciting requirements from stakeholders, the next analysing data for a migration decision, mapping legacy systems, or producing technical documentation for integrations. Whatremainsconstant is your commitment to quality, rigour, and outputs that teams can confidently build upon.

You will workwithin an engineering squad,buttakeownershipofyourworkstream, managing stakeholder relationships, and delivering high-quality artefacts with minimal rework. At the same time,you’lldemonstratestrong judgement in knowing when to escape, seek direction, or reassess scope.

This is a hybrid role based in Swindon with 3 days a weekrequiredin the office.

Whatyou’llbe doing

In this role,you’llwork across business and technology teams to understand what needs to change, translate ideas into clear requirements, and help shape practical solutions that support successful delivery.

  • Work with stakeholders to gather,analyseand document business and technical requirements.
  • Turn requirements into clear delivery artefacts, including user stories, functional specifications, processmapsand acceptance criteriadelivered toSoftware Development teams.
  • Analyse data and process information to support programme decisions, deliveryplanningand prioritisation.
  • Create andmaintainhigh-quality documentation, such as system descriptions, integration specifications, datadictionariesand process flows.
  • Review legacy systems to understand current capabilities, dependencies and opportunities for simplification or decommissioning.
  • Support development and integration workstreams by helping define system requirements, integrationdesignsand API-related documentation.
  • Identifyopportunities for automation by documenting current processes, assessing potentialimprovementsand building supporting business or technical cases.
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions, capturing outputs clearly and turning discussions into actionable plans and deliverables.
  • Keep documentationaccurate, up to date and easy to use across assignments.
  • Support planning and estimation by breaking work down into clear, manageable deliverables.
What will you need to succeed?
  • Demonstrable experience in a technical analyst, or systems analyst role, with a track record of working across both business and technical domains
  • Experience producing a broad range of analytical artefacts: requirements documentation, process maps, data analysis, system maps, and technical specifications.
  • Experience workingwithintechnology delivery teams using agile or hybrid delivery approaches.
  • Financial services experienceor certifications(e.gCeMap,DipFA)would be astrongadvantagebut not essential; a willingness to get up to speed quickly on the domain is required.
  • Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience. Business analysis qualifications (BCS, IIBA, or similar) are advantageous.
