BMI UK&I has an exciting permanent opportunity for a Technical Advisor - Flat to join our team. Reporting to the Head of Technical & After Sales Services, this role is based in Milton Keynes.

Role Summary

Working with the Senior Technical Advisor and Head of Technical & After Sales Services, the role involves delivering market-leading technical support to internal and external customer groups. You will engage face-to-face with stakeholders including Technical Specification Managers & Tapered Scheme Advisors, utilizing your technical, organizational, and decision-making skills to meet business requirements. The position plays a vital role in ensuring the integrity, safety, regulation, and environmental compliance of our design specifications, while delivering innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective membrane design solutions to meet customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice to customers and internal sales teams in line with BMI and BS Standards.
• Offer detailed technical support within your area of expertise.
• Support the creation of system specifications ensuring compliance with standards.
• Ensure specifications and site inspections are logged in CRM/SpecMaster systems.
• Carry out Wind Uplift, U-Value & Drainage calculations to support BMI specifications.
• Provide installation advice via phone or electronic communication, in line with BMI instructions.
• Answer basic technical questions across roofing areas and seek expert support when needed.
• Contribute to the development of Technical Services systems.

Skills and Experience

• Degree (or equivalent) in a construction discipline.
• Good technical knowledge of flat roofing and building construction.
• Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
• Proficient IT skills; training on internal systems will be provided.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings; training provided.
• CAD/BIM (Revit) drawing experience is desirable.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage workload effectively.
• Experience in the flat roofing industry (Merchants, Contractors) is a plus.
