Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Trade Effluent Technical Advisor to support customers and retailers, handling applications, and advising on related queries. You will engage across departments to ensure accurate documentation and excellent service.

Based at Crossness Sewage Treatment Works, with a 36-hour week (Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm). The role emphasizes relationship building, regulatory awareness, and practical support for frontline teams.

• A high level of attention to detail, a logical and analytical mind.
• The ability to evaluate, interpret and effectively communicate written data and information from diverse sources.

• Excellent communication, relationship building and negotiating skills for liaising with external parties and across different levels of stakeholders both within and outside of the business.

Thames Water – Technical Advisor

You’ll handle Trade Effluent applications, raise charges and consent fees, and be the friendly, confident voice supporting customers through calls, letters and enquiries

What you’ll be doing as a Trade Effluent Technical Advisor

• Completing and managing temporary case assessments.
• Preparation of legal documentation and monthly internal reports
• Advising customers and retailers with queries.
• The role requires building relationships with retailers and customers alike to ensure excellent customer service.
• Supporting the trade effluent team members with documentation and PPE requirements.
• Interactions with other departments include Wholesale Market Services, Asset Planning and Operational Process Scientists.

Base location: Crossness Sewage Treatment Works, SE2 9AQ

Working hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm

What you should bring to the role

• Ability to work within a team environment is essential.

Additional skills and experiences would be beneficial:

• Water Industry Experience.
• Knowledge of Thames Water systems, e.g. TERMIS, Salesforce, SAP supply chain, is desirable.
• Financial experience in revenue generation.
• Regulatory Experience.
• Ideally, have a valid UK driver’s licence and access to a car for travel to work because the site is in a remote location.
