Job summary

Sofina Foods is seeking a Technical Advanced Operator to support food safety, quality, and compliance across the site. You will prepare production areas, verify material compliance, calibrate equipment, and conduct audits while supporting continuous improvement and right-first-time delivery.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience in food manufacturing, QA, technical, or compliance.
  • Prior quality auditing experience.
  • Knowledge of food safety systems, GMP and QA processes.
  • Experience in chilled or frozen production is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and issue resolution.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare production areas and equipment to meet food safety, hygiene, quality, and performance standards.
  • Verify that products, raw materials, and ingredients comply with customer specifications, legal requirements, and internal standards.
  • Monitor and calibrate weighing and temperature monitoring equipment, escalate issues promptly.
  • Check product labels and packaging information for compliance and accuracy.
  • Carry out routine quality, food safety, hygiene, and process audits in line with site procedures.
  • Collect samples for laboratory testing and ensure quality documentation is completed accurately.
  • Investigate non-conformances, support root cause analysis, and contribute to corrective actions.
  • Support production teams with process controls, record completion, and adherence to food safety procedures.
  • Conduct process control checks at defined intervals to ensure ongoing compliance with specifications.
  • Promote a positive food safety and quality culture and encourage right-first-time across the operation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, waste reduction, and operational performance.
  • Contribute to maintaining audit-ready standards and supporting customer, insurance, and compliance audits.
  • Coach and support colleagues on food safety, hygiene, quality, and safe working practices.

Become a key part of our Technical team, helping to protect food safety, product quality, and compliance standards while ensuring products are delivered right first time for our customers.

Role Overview

As a Technical Advanced Operator, you'll play a vital role in maintaining food safety, quality, and operational standards across the site. Working closely with Production and Technical teams, you'll help ensure products meet customer, company, and legal requirements while supporting a culture of continuous improvement, compliance, and operational excellence.

Ideal Candidate
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience within a food manufacturing, quality assurance, technical, or compliance environment.
  • Previous quality auditing experience.
  • Knowledge of food safety systems, GMP, hygiene standards, and quality assurance processes.
  • Experience working within chilled, frozen, or food production environments would be advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify, investigate, and resolve issues.
  • Confident prioritising workloads and managing multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Able to build positive working relationships and influence high standards across teams.
  • Competent using Microsoft Office and electronic recording systems.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills with a focus on accuracy.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach, with a commitment to setting standards and leading by example.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to coach and support colleagues.
