Job summary

Sofina Foods is seeking an Assistant Line Leader to support the production line, ensuring quality, safety and customer specifications are met on a fast-paced site. Reporting to the Line Leader, you will cover line operations when needed and contribute to continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.

You will lead by example on quality checks, engage in HACCP practices, and help drive production performance while maintaining accurate records and a safe working environment.

Qualifications

  • Qualified to Level 3 Food Hygiene or equivalent.
  • Knowledgeable in HACCP principles and food safety requirements.
  • Detail-focused with a strong commitment to quality standards.
  • Numerate and literate with the ability to complete records accurately.
  • Three or more years' experience in food manufacturing (desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Manage the production line in the absence of the Line Leader.
  • Document and maintain safety and quality checks in line with requirements.
  • Ensure the production area operates to food safety and quality standards.
  • Report non-conformances and support corrective actions.
  • Confirm availability of ingredients, labels, packaging and materials.
  • Maintain accurate production records and routine quality checks.
  • Review and maintain management information and production data.
  • Oversee hygiene checks and report defects promptly.
  • Support audit preparation and continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensure finished products meet safety, legal and quality requirements.
  • Set up machinery correctly to support efficient production operations.

Role Overview

As an Assistant Line Leader, you'll play a key role in supporting production performance, food safety and product quality across the production line. Reporting to the Line Leader, you'll take responsibility for line operations when required, helping ensure products are manufactured to customer specifications and the highest quality standards.

Key Duties
  • Manage the production line in the absence of the Line Leader
  • Document and maintain safety and quality checks in line with customer and legislative requirements
  • Ensure the production area operates in line with food safety and quality standards
  • Report non-conformances and support corrective actions
  • Confirm the availability of ingredients, labels, packaging and materials before production begins
  • Maintain accurate, clear and honest production records
  • Carry out routine quality checks and support colleagues in achieving right-first-time standards
  • Review and maintain management information and production data
  • Oversee machinery hygiene checks and report defects promptly
  • Support audit preparation and continuous improvement activities
  • Ensure finished products meet food safety, legal and quality requirements
  • Set up machinery correctly to support efficient production operations

Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified to Level 3 Food Hygiene or equivalent

Desirable experience:

  • Three or more years' experience in food manufacturing
  • Experience supporting production line performance and team development
