Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a capable Technical Administrator for the NZT project based at our Redcar site. You will support the technical, engineering and project delivery teams, maintain documents and records, and help manage governance and reporting workflows.

In this role you will coordinate documents, logs and trackers, prepare packs and dashboards, arrange meetings, and liaise with suppliers, contractors and internal stakeholders while ensuring confidentiality and accuracy in all records.

Qualifications

  • Experience with document management systems and project portals.
  • Ability to handle confidential or commercially sensitive information.
  • Proactive approach with continuous improvement mindset.
  • Experience supporting technical teams or engineers a plus.
  • GCSEs in English and Maths desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to technical, engineering and project delivery teams.
  • Maintain project records, document registers, drawing logs and action trackers.
  • Coordinate receipt, review, issue and filing of technical documents, drawings and reports.
  • Support document control processes and ensure version control and distribution.
  • Prepare and update project reports, meeting packs, trackers and dashboards.
  • Liaise with internal/external stakeholders to obtain information and progress actions.
  • Support procurement and commercial admin, including requisitions and POs.
  • Arrange meetings, prepare agendas, take minutes and follow up actions.
  • Assist with governance, quality, health & safety documentation.
  • Upload/download and manage information in project systems and portals.

Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Technical Administrator to contribute to ourNet Zero Teesside(NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.

Role Purpose

The Technical Administrator will provide high-quality administrative and coordination support to the technical, engineering and project delivery teams. The role is responsible for maintaining accurate project documentation, coordinating technical information, supporting reporting and governance processes, and ensuring that records, drawings, trackers and correspondence are managed efficiently and in line with business requirements.

  • Support document control processes, ensuring that information is correctly named, version controlled, stored and distributed to relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare and update project reports, meeting packs, work packs, trackers and dashboards as required.
  • Liaise with internal departments, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and clients to obtain information and progress outstanding actions.
  • Support procurement and commercial administration, including raising requisitions, purchase orders and tracking supplier information where required.
  • Arrange meetings, prepare agendas, take minutes and follow up on agreed actions.
  • Assist with compliance, quality, health and safety and governance documentation, ensuring records are complete and up to date.
  • Upload, download and manage information within project management systems, portals and shared workspaces.
  • Support the preparation of handover, completion, assurance or close-out documentation
  • Identify opportunities to improve administrative processes, templates and document management practices.
Who we're looking for
  • Experience using document management systems, project portals or collaboration platforms.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential or commercially sensitive information appropriately.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of technical documentation, drawing registers or project controls processes is desirable.
  • Previous experience in an administrative, technical administration, project administration or document control role.
  • Experience working within engineering, construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy or a project-based environment is desirable.
  • Experience supporting technical teams, project managers or engineers would be beneficial.
  • Confident user of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • GCSEs in English and Maths, or equivalent, are desirable.
  • NVQ Level 3, business administration qualification, or equivalent experience would be advantageous.
