Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamicMechanical Project Engineerto contribute to theNet Zero Teesside(NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.
Assists Construction Manager and Engineering Manager with the planning and daily execution of the construction project. Responsible for maintaining certain aspects of the project schedule as assigned by the Project Manager, by managing the process of submittal approvals, coordinating the timely delivery of materials, maintaining schedules and budgets.
- Ensure packages are delivered to programme, budget, safety and quality expectations/standards
- Ensure packages comply with good design practice and relevant technical group standards
- Ensure the package is executed with minimum rework
- Ensure accurate and complete records are kept in accordance with the mechanical control sheet, this should include; RFIs, FCDs, WPPs, MCRs, ITPs, Record Drawings and other project communications/deliverables. The engineer responsible for a package of works will ensure the document control sheet is maintained progressively and that relevant team members are aware of any potential impacts
- Ensure communication trackers are updated, regardless of platform self-generated registers
- Ensure plant, access, labour and materials are planned and organised in accordance with appropriate interfaces for the associated works, this should include any procurement activity relevant to a package
- Ensure the relevant RIBA 4 design deliverables are reviewed, accurate and fit for purpose prior to works commence
- Concisely produce/review the WPP and ITP for a particular activity, this will ensure quality assurance mechanisms are contextualised, four weeks prior to works start (progressively check)
- Produce technical input SoW in accordance with the relevant QS, suitable for an ITT
- Identifying risks to the Project Management team associated with the delivery of their works raising EWNs as appropriate
- Monitor performance of supply chain against planned activities and elevate as required to achieve planned output
- Draft site instructions for review and issue by Project Management team including detailed descriptions of works required, location, programme impact, cost impact and reference to any client led change event
- Become familiar and adhere to BB policy/procedure and the LCY workflows and contract details, procedures/processes that are required for safe and timely execution. This includes proficiency in platforms such as BC and Aconex, undertaking training as required
- Support the QA function by completing various tours and quality check-sheets for the relevant package of works on BIM 360 Field
- Manage time and complete daily diaries on BIM 360 Field, support the EPPR process (if/as applicable) and contribute to any other reporting format applicable
- Implementation of Short Interval Control including running of daily section review meeting and production of a weekly section report via BIM 360
- Provide relevant cost information to relevant QS (where applicable, e.g. PMIs) and provide time estimates that support the programme (where applicable). If required, undertake/support MTO of relevant package of works
- Act safely and work to eliminate hazards at source following BIM and other project reporting procedures as appropriate
- Complete safety observation card; target 1 per week, recorded on BB APP
- Complete safety tour; target 1 per month, recorded on BIM 360 Field
- Ensure project change is captured in conjunction with the relevant QS
- Become familiar and implement BIM 360 field as part of daily activities as a fundamental, (additional software such as Revizto will be utilised)
- Contribute to any relevant VE process that occurs and attend customer/internal meetings as applicable
- Engage and support other interfacing functions; electrical, controls and commissioning
- As well as the installation and T&C activities, the engineer must ensure that the decommissioning and strip-out works for each service accountable for is considered in accordance with the project phasing

- Carry out periodic Progress Meetings with subcontractors to ensure package specifics are managed effectively, aspects are, but not limited to; quality, safety, design standards, programme (and budget where applicable)
The following experience/qualifications are required:
- Qualified in B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or have experience in a related field position
- Extensive experience in Project Engineer, or relevant progressive construction related trade experience
- High levels of integrity
- Able to constantly focus on meeting/exceeding customer requirements and expectations
