Job summary

Brio Digital Limited is seeking a Technical Architect for a focused 10‑day remote engagement in the UK to assess the AWS telephony layer behind its AI voice platform. You will define an architecture roadmap for scale, resilience and compliance, and hand over detailed designs to the engineering team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering AWS cloud telephony or contact centre solutions.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Amazon Connect contact flows, routing and numbers.
• Experience streaming real-time audio to downstream services (e.g. Kinesis).
• Solid experience with core AWS services: Lambda, Lex, IAM, CloudWatch, Kinesis, S3, DynamoDB.
• Experience designing architectures for sensitive data under UK GDPR.
• Ability to produce clear architecture documentation at pace.
• Confident communicator with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

About the client

Our client is a fast-growing UK healthtech scale-up using AI to transform patient communication. Their platform uses specialised AI voice agents to automate inbound and outbound patient phone calls, classifying and handling enquiries so clinical and administrative teams can focus on care. Staff get Real Time visibility of every automated interaction and the actions the AI suggests.

The aim is simple: make it easier for patients to get through and reduce waiting times, while lowering the administrative load on healthcare providers.

The role

The client needs an experienced Technical Architect for a focused 10-day engagement on the AWS telephony layer behind its AI voice platform. You will assess the current architecture, design the target state for scale, resilience and compliance, and leave the engineering team with clear designs and a roadmap they can deliver against.

This is a hands-on, fixed-term assignment. You will need to start quickly and work effectively with minimal onboarding.

Key responsibilities

• Review the existing AWS telephony architecture, including Amazon Connect configuration, call flows, routing, telephony numbers and integrations.
• Assess how Real Time call audio and data move between the telephony layer and the AI voice agents, identifying latency, reliability and scaling risks.
• Design target-state high-level and low-level architecture to support growth in call volumes and new healthcare customers.
• Review security and data handling for sensitive patient data, including encryption, access control, call recording and data retention.
• Define integration patterns with clinical, practice management and Back Office systems using AWS services such as Lambda, Kinesis and API Gateway.
• Run workshops with engineering and product stakeholders to agree design decisions.
• Deliver a prioritised set of recommendations and an implementation roadmap, and hand over all documentation to the internal team.

• Current-state architecture assessment.
• Target-state architecture design (HLD, with LLD where required).
• Security and compliance considerations for patient data.
• Recommendations report and implementation roadmap.
• Handover session with the engineering team.

Essential skills and experience

• Proven experience as a Technical or Solutions Architect delivering AWS cloud telephony or contact centre solutions.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Amazon Connect: contact flows, routing, queues, telephony and number management.
• Experience streaming Real Time call audio to downstream services (for example Kinesis Video Streams or media streaming).
• Solid experience with core AWS services: Lambda, Lex, IAM, CloudWatch, Kinesis, S3 and DynamoDB.
• Experience designing secure architectures for sensitive personal data under UK GDPR.
• Ability to produce clear architecture documentation at pace.
• Confident communicator with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Available to start immediately.

Desirable

• Experience in healthcare or NHS environments, including NHS DSPT or DCB0129 clinical safety standards.
• Experience with conversational AI, LLM-based voice agents or speech services (Amazon Transcribe, Polly, Lex).
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional).
• Infrastructure as Code experience (CloudFormation, Terraform or CDK).
• Experience in a start-up or scale-up product environment.
