Job summary

SoCode Limited is seeking an experienced Tech Lead to steer a 10-person software team within a UK SaaS environment. The role focuses on people, processes and technical strategy rather than hands-on coding, with a cloud migration program and adoption of AI-powered tools.

Qualifications

• Lead software engineering teams (ideally 5+ developers).
• Strong understanding of PHP, NodeJS/Python, MySQL and modern web development.
• Experience implementing scalable engineering processes and delivery standards.
• Proven cloud infrastructure and cloud migration experience (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Knowledge of security, GDPR and compliance requirements.
• Comfortable working with exec leadership and shaping technical strategy.
• Interest in AI-driven software development and emerging practices.
• Able to work from Milton Keynes office at least four days per week.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of ~10 software engineers.
• Manage performance, career development, recruitment and growth.
• Improve engineering practices across SDLC, testing, reviews and release management.
• Own governance around security, compliance and data protection.
• Lead migration of infrastructure to a public cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Partner with senior stakeholders to translate product strategy into delivery.
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted development practices.
• Foster continuous improvement and technical excellence.
