Job summary

Thirdfort Limited is seeking a Tech Lead (IC4) in London to join a product team and provide strong technical leadership. This role emphasizes solving complex problems, owning technical direction within a domain, and mentoring other engineers to grow through example.

You’ll set direction, raise standards, and take ownership of technical outcomes, collaborating with Product, Design and other engineering leaders. The position supports a hybrid model with two days per week in the London office.

Qualifications

• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools to improve design, testing or maintenance workflows.
• Built and operated production software in a modern engineering environment.
• Led technical design and delivery for complex systems or domains.
• Comfortable working across backend and frontend systems (Go, TypeScript, JavaScript, Python).
• Strong knowledge of APIs, data modelling, testing strategies and system design.
• Enjoy mentoring other engineers and leading through influence.
• Able to communicate complex technical ideas clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Thrives in a fast-moving, regulated environment where quality and trust are critical.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership within your team and domain, guiding design decisions and architectural direction.
• Design, build and deliver complex features and systems that are secure, scalable and maintainable.
• Own technical outcomes end-to-end, from discovery and design through to delivery and long-term operation.
• Lead by example in AI-assisted software engineering, using AI to accelerate delivery while maintaining strong engineering judgement.
• Help the team improve AI-enabled development practices and automate repetitive work.
• Represent Engineering at an organisational level, partnering with stakeholders across Product, Sales, Marketing, Support, Operations, Legal and Compliance.
• Mentor and coach engineers across the team, supporting their technical growth and confidence.
• Set a high bar for code quality, testing, observability and operational excellence.
• Collaborate closely with Product and Design to shape solutions and manage trade-offs.
• Lead technical discussions, reviews and incident investigations; drive learning and improvement.
• Contribute to wider engineering initiatives and influence standards.
