Job summary

The University of Manchester is seeking an Information Governance Officer (Technical) to join the Information Governance Office. You will help drive secure, compliant digital solutions across major transformation programmes, working at the intersection of governance, data protection and technology.

Based in the Information Governance Office, you will collaborate with IT Services, programme teams and technical specialists to embed governance into design and delivery, ensuring robust records

Qualifications

• Experience applying information governance or data protection principles in technical, digital or system-based environments.
• Experience supporting or delivering risk assessments, DPIAs or assurance activities.
• Experience working with digital transformation programmes, IT systems or identity and access management services.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify information risk and propose practical, proportionate solutions.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical teams and diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Supporting major digital programmes and projects by identifying and managing information governance risks.
• Delivering Information Governance Risk Reviews (IGRRs) across systems and services.
• Assessing system architectures, identity models, access controls and data flows, and recommending proportionate mitigations.
• Working with IT Services, including Security Architecture and Identity and Access Management teams, to embed governance and security requirements.
• Providing advice on data governance, classification, retention and lawful processing, and contributing to governance documentation and audit evidence.
