Job summary

TeacherActive Ltd is recruiting Team Teach SEND Teaching Assistants for Bristol and South Gloucestershire from September 2026. You will work with pupils with complex SEND, using de-escalation techniques to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.

The role involves assisting teachers, therapists and other professionals in small groups and individual sessions, ensuring a calm, nurturing environment that promotes learning, communication and independence.

Qualifications

• Team Teach training or recognised de-escalation/positive handling training.
• Recent experience using Team Teach, de-escalation or positive behaviour strategies is highly desirable.
• At least 6 months' experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Experience working within a specialist SEND school, alternative provision, care or therapeutic setting.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group support to pupils with complex needs.
• Use Team Teach strategies to help pupils manage challenging situations safely and positively.
• Remain calm and consistent during periods of dysregulation and build strong relationships with pupils.
• Support pupils to overcome barriers to learning while encouraging confidence, independence, communication and life skills.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other professionals to support personalised learning.
