Job summary

TeacherActive is partnering with a specialist SEND school in South Bristol to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant from January 2027 for a full-time, long-term position. You will provide individual and small-group support, applying Team Teach and de-escalation techniques to help pupils with Autism/ASD, SLD and PMLD manage emotions and engage in learning.

The school offers a nurturing environment with a dedicated staff team and ongoing CPD, with opportunities to develop confidence and communication

Qualifications

• Team Teach or de-escalation training or safe behaviour support understanding.
• Experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable adults in education or care.
• Experience with Autism/ASD and complex needs.
• Understanding of emotional regulation and de-escalation before intervention.
• Calm, patient and compassionate approach with strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group support using Team Teach and de-escalation strategies.
• Help pupils manage emotional dysregulation and engage with learning.
