Job summary

Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking a proactive Team Manager in Fire Remediation to lead critical fire safety compliance and remediation across housing stock and assets. You will drive multi-disciplinary teams, manage sizeable budgets and ensure statutory obligations are met, aligning with the council's asset strategy.

The role requires extensive experience in fire safety, building safety and asset management, with a Level 5 qualification and active CPD.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading large, complex teams in asset management or construction.
• Extensive knowledge of fire safety, building safety and asset management.
• Experience managing large capital and revenue budgets and regulatory frameworks.
• Level 5 qualification in Built Environment or Fire Safety Management.
• Membership of a professional body with ongoing CPD.
• Strong knowledge of Fire Risk Assessment, PAS 79, Building Regulations and the Fire Safety Order.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication with senior leaders and external partners.
• Additional fire safety qualifications such as VRQ Level 4 and City & Guilds qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Manage Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) programmes, remedial works and compliance monitoring systems.
• Oversee project planning, design and construction activities, ensuring delivery to time, cost and quality standards.
• Provide strategic leadership to multidisciplinary teams comprising professional, technical, administrative and contractor resources.
• Act as the Council's lead contact for contractors, consultants, community representatives and key stakeholders.
• Monitor and manage substantial capital and revenue budgets.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, guidance and industry standards relating to fire safety and building regulations.
• Support service improvement, innovation and sustainability initiatives across the Housing and Assets service.

Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced and driven Team Manager in Fire Remediation to lead the delivery of critical fire safety compliance and remediation programmes across our housing stock and built assets portfolio.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role in the management of high-profile building safety and fire remediation projects that directly impact residents, communities and the Council's long-term asset strategy.

Working within our Housing and Assets service, you will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage significant capital and revenue budgets, and ensure the Council meets its statutory obligations relating to fire safety, regulatory compliance and asset management. As Team Manager, you will:

• Lead the delivery of fire remediation, compliance and building safety programmes across a diverse property portfolio.

We are looking for an experienced leader with substantial knowledge of fire safety, building compliance and asset management. You will have:

• Significant experience of leading large, complex teams within asset management, construction, property services or a related environment.
• Extensive knowledge of property construction, maintenance, building safety and facilities management.
• Experience of managing large budgets, capital programmes and regulatory compliance frameworks.
• A Level 5 qualification (or equivalent) in Built Environment, Surveying, Fire Safety Management or a related discipline.
• Membership of an appropriate professional body with ongoing commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
• Strong knowledge of Fire Risk Assessment processes, PAS 79 standards, Building Regulations, Approved Document B and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leaders, elected members and external partners.
• Additional fire safety qualifications such as VRQ Level 4 Fire Safety Management and City & Guilds accredited qualifications

Additional Information

• DBS check required.
• Full driving licence required & business-use vehicle insurance required.
• Participation in an out-of-hours operational rota is essential.
