Job Title: Team Manager- Children's Social Care (Social and Healthcare Qualified)

Rate: Competitive

Start Date: Monday, 12 May 2025

Location: County Hall, HU17 9BA

Reports To: Area Manager

Note: Photographic ID must be evidenced when reporting for duty.

To provide independent oversight and high-quality review of child protection and looked after children cases. This includes chairing statutory reviews, ensuring that child protection plans and care plans are appropriate, timely, and focused on outcomes for children. The role ensures statutory responsibilities are met and best practices are maintained in all aspects of safeguarding.

Key Responsibilities

Chairing & Reviewing:

Chair Child Protection Conferences and LAC Reviews, ensuring legal compliance and best practice.

Maintain consistent oversight to ensure plans are effective, timely, and child-centred.

Monitoring & Quality Assurance

Audit and monitor case records, reports, and performance in line with national and local standards.

Challenge poor practice and escalate concerns appropriately.

Advocacy & Childs Voice

Ensure children and young peoples voices are central to the planning process.

Promote engagement of families and carers in decision-making.

Multi-Agency Collaboration

Coordinate effectively with partners across health, education, and the police.

Lead multi-agency reviews and ensure coordinated responses to safeguarding issues.

Performance & Reporting

Provide timely reports to senior management highlighting trends, risks, and improvement areas.

Support continuous improvement across childrens services through insights gained from reviews.

Professional Development & Best Practice

Keep up to date with legislation, policy, and research in safeguarding and child welfare.

Contribute to the learning culture of the service, promoting reflection and improvement.

Qualifications

Person Specification:

Social Work qualification (Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent)

Current registration with Social Work England

Evidence of continued professional development relevant to child protection or reviewing roles

Post-qualifying training in child protection, care planning, or review processes (desirable)

Experience & Skills

Significant post-qualification experience in children's statutory social work

Expertise in safeguarding and child protection, including legislation and best practice

Strong leadership, chairing, and report-writing skills

Confident in working independently and making decisions within statutory frameworks

Skilled in partnership working and maintaining professional boundaries
